there are many street food stalls on either side of the roads. not only in Aluthkade, you can also taste street foods
around the country especially in coastal areas. street foods are very famous among foreign tourists as well as locals.
Let us dig into a few Sri Lankan street foods.
1) Kottu Roti
Kottu roti is the most famous street food in Sri Lanka.it is a Sri Lankan Tamil dish.
first of all, they make the roti which is made of flour and other few ingredients. and they cut several roties into small pieces.
then they add vegetables, various kinds of meat, eggs as well as curries. that is really delicious and mouth-watering.
this smells awesome and has a phenomenal taste.
the combination of various kinds of things such as meat, vegetable, eggs as well as curries makes this dish more delicious.
Sri Lankans eat this dish for breakfast as well as for dinner. kottu roti is noticeable, especially among foreign tourists.
2)samosa
Samosa is almost like a snack; a spicy snack.it is basically made of flour. first of all, they make a samosa sheet using flour.
then they make a spicy mixture which is made of vegetables, eggs or meat.
they put a small amount of mixture into each samosa sheet and fold that sheet into a triangle and fry deeply.
it is really crunchy and delicious.I really like to eat samosa with tomato sauce. the best combination ever guys.
3)hoppers and string hoppers
Hoppers and string hoppers are two of the most popular breakfast foods in Sri Lanka. there are two kinds of hoppers.
One is a plain hopper and the other one is an egg hopper. both are delicious, and they are full of flavor.it all begins with a batter. that's made of rice flour and coconut milk. the batter has a runny texture
it would not be a complete Sri Lankan street food tour without eating an egg hopper.
string hoppers are made of rice flour and Sri Lankans eat string hoppers for the breakfast as well as dinner.
string hoppers are eaten with coconut sambol, dhal curry, chicken curry as well as many other curries...
