Sigiriya Rock

It is so true that Sri Lanka is the wonder of Asia.In the real sense of the word, our country is such a majestic destination. It owns the most enpicable tourist destinations on this planet Earth. On the other hand, it has a great extremely interesting history. As I said Sri Lanka has beautiful tourist destinations.Among them, Sigiriya is one of the most popular tourist destinations for sure.

Sigiriya is a remarkable ancient rock fortresslocated in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka.

Sigiriya is one of the most valuable historical monuments of Sri Lanka which is Referred by locals as the Eighth Wonder of the World.

Sigiriya was the royal capital of King Kasyapa. This ancient rock fortress complex has significant archaeological importance and attracts thousands of tourists every year.

It is probably the most visited tourist destination in Sri Lanka. It is not a secret that there is a hidden historical story behind this rock.

Sigiriya was built by the fifth-century king Kashyapa, who ruled the native Sinhalese dynasty, the Moriya.

The imposing fortress was the capital of the Sinhalese kingdom until Kashyapa was defeated.

Not only that Sigiriya was designated as a world heritage site in1982.

Sigiriya is famous for its palace ruins on top of a massive 200-meter-high rock surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures.

The other thing is this rock itself is a lava plug left over from an ancient long extinct volcano. This palace does contain extraordinary architecture, mirror walls, captivating & eye-catching paintings as well as Sigiriya frescoes.

The Sigiriya Frescoes were painted on the western surface of Sigiriya Rock, located in central Sri Lanka.

Today only a few of these murals survive, in a small pocket about 100 meters above the ground.

It is worthwhile visiting this magical place.

Besides, it is beautiful in a dramatic way and I highly recommend that you must visit Sigiriya.

It is a warm and inviting place for heaven's sake.

this is such a jaw-dropping destination with a splendid and bizarre view.

As a result of being a rock, you can see a gorgeous view of the whole area.

very picturesque and striking indeed.

Foreign tourists do like to visit this place more than local tourists.

They do explore the village area too and do not forget to taste the Sri Lankan cuisine.

Last but not least, people must protect this place. What I mean is locals and foreigners must protect this place.

Because this is our heritage and we are the ones who have to protect this ancient gift which was given by our own ancestors.
